WHAT ARE C&D MATERIALS?

Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris accounts for a significant portion of the waste going to local landfills.

Common Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris is a type of waste that is not included in municipal solid waste (MSW). Materials included in the C&D debris generation estimates are steel, lumber, drywall, metals, masonry (brick, concrete, etc.), carpet, plastic, pipe, rocks, dirt, paper, cardboard, or green waste related to land development. These materials are used in buildings, roads and bridges, and other sectors.
 

COMMON USES FOR RECYCLED C&D MATERIALS:

Scrap lumber or wood can be processed and used for landscaping, compost, animal bedding, boiler fuel, or engineered building products.

Metals such as aluminum, copper, steel, iron and brass can be sold to scrap metal yards. These are some of the easiest and most cost-effective materials to recycle.

1. Air classification machine :
in a shredder system commonly designed for vehicles, the shredded material is subjected to air separation before the separation of steel and iron material. This creates a light fraction capable of flight, known as the shredder light fraction (SLF). The heavy items from the air separation is - after separation of iron - the shredder heavy fraction (SHF). Air classifiers are commonly employed in industrial processes where a large volume of mixed materials with differing physical characteristics need to be separated quickly and efficiently.

LIGHT FRACTION REMOVAL
Dust and the light fraction will be disturbed during the separation processing by air turbulence inside the catch hood causing by the compressed air ejection. A good sorting performance requires the dust and light fraction to be removed properly before feeding into the equipment.

1.MSW

Trommel screens are used by the municipal waste industry in the screening process to classify sizes of solid waste.Besides that, it can also be used to improve the recovery of fuel-derived solid waste. In addition, trommel screens are used for the treatment of wastewater.

2.Mineral processing

Trommel screens are also used for the grading of raw materials to recover valuable minerals.The screen will segregate minuscule materials which are not in the suitable range of size to be used in the crushing stage. It also helps to get rid of dust particles which will otherwise impair the performance of the subsequent machineries in the downstream processes.

3.Other applications

Other applications of trommel screens can be seen in the screening process of composts as an enhancement technique. It selects composts of variable size fractions to get rid of contaminants and incomplete composted residues, forming end products with a variety of uses. Besides this, the food industries use trommel screens to sort dry food of different sizes and shapes. The classification process will help to achieve the desired mass or heat transfer rate and avoid under or over-processing. It also screens tiny food such as peas and nuts that are strong enough to resist the rotational force of the drum.

The principle of the eddy current separator is fairly straightforward. Basically, a rotor comprised of magnet blocks, either standard ferrite ceramic or the more powerful rare earth magnets depending on application, are spun at high revolutions (over 3000 rpm) to produce an 'eddy current'. This eddy current reacts with different metals, according to their specific mass and resistivity, creating a repelling force on the charged particle. If a metal is light, yet conductive such as aluminum, it is easily levitated and ejected from the normal flow of the product stream making separation possible. .

These eddy currents repel materials with varying degrees of force depending on their composition. It is able to separate metals from scrap, and remove metallic particles and contaminants from glass and other substances. In fact, eddy current separators offer a cost effective method of recovering up to 95% of valuable material from rubbish and waste, grading precious metal concentrates for further processing. It also improves the purity of non-ferrous auto scrap up to 85-95%, maximizing the speed and efficiency of recovery and increasing profits.
 

5. Induction stainless steel sorter  

Induction sorter is detecting the inductive metal such as copper , aluminum, Zinc, Lead,  stainless steel, print circuit board(PCB) and insolation wire etc through the imbed induction sensor under the belt. With high pressure valve connected one line of nozzle after the high speed belt, eject those detected objects, the inductive of sensor could be adjusted through software via the screen.

It is normally being installed after eddy current in order to recover rest of metal after eddy current sorting such as copper, brass, zinc, aluminum and those could not be sorted by eddy current as stainless steel and insolation wire etc.

The grain size of material has a huge impact on sorting performance. Too small grain size will cause the metal to be undetected, and too large grain size will inflfluence the sorting effificiency due to mechanical limitations.
The grain size of material within a single sorting task should keep its range within 3 times. A wider range of grain size distribution may result in the poor of sorting performance. Recommended grain size of material is 10 to 120 , and divided to 3 groups of [10-30], [30-50], and [50-120].
